A vagabond traveler needs not be the typical homeless wanderer relying on Shrubs, left-over and river water. Ideally defined as back-packers – vagabonds do not plan their trips and they keep moving place to place in search for excitement. So, if you are backpacker vagabond traveling to America then this article is rightly meant for you. Here are some basic tips (though funny they may sound) to be considered for a better experience throughout your nomadic trip.

Like memories of your trip? Ensure you have a journal. An online blog won’t be as good as pen & paper material. Read them after 20 years and you know what we mean. Vagabonds traveling through America can be as much a story (and not diary/journal). If you drink alcohol then always carry your own bottle/wine openers. Often you will found yourself stranded with a bottle of wine or beer and nothing to open. That would be such a bummer.

A vagabond traveler in America always carries pack of playing cards. It will help you kill boredom and make new friends. A roll of toilet paper is a versatile traveling requirement in so many ways and not just a wiper. Use plastic bottles for carrying stuff and not glass bottles. Glass bottles mean as much more weight to carry. They are handy for your salt, pepper, detergent powder and what not. Also, keep stocking sachets of ketchup, vinegar, tissues, salt and anything you get wherever and whenever you get them.

Another good idea to get interactive with locales of America during your vagabond trip will be to increase your own GK. Find out little facts about your own country and town which people like to ask. Buy calling cards smartly. There are several options available in market. Find the one which can have you call maximum number of minutes. A backpacker card like VIP, HI and others will help you save a lot of money when staying in hostels.

A road map is a very handy tool when you’re setting out on a long trip. It helps point you in the direction you want to go and can be a lifesaver when you’ve strayed off course.

An exercise training diary can provide the same help as a road map when you embark on an exercise program. In many ways, it’s a lot more informative because it’s a daily record of your journey to your fitness goals. So let’s take a look at how to get the most benefit from your workout log.

1. Record the Basics

Record the date, start and end times, body parts trained, and if you were joined by a training partner. Also be sure to record information about your cardio workouts.

2. It’s more than just sets and reps

For a weight training log you’ll certainly want to record the number of sets and reps you perform for each lift. Also be sure to indicate all warm up sets. This will help you prevent injury and may also indicate if you’re doing too many warm up sets.

Of course you’ll want to record the weight you use for each lift. Unless you have a pretty good memory, it’s difficult to remember from one workout to another what weight you used the last time. A training diary takes away the guesswork.

Also be sure to indicate if you use any special training techniques such as forced reps, negatives, pyramids, or super sets. A training diary is a great way to uncover if any of these techniques actually work for you or if they’re just making you over trained.

Also, recording the settings on exercise machines such as seat height and other adjustments can save you a lot of time during your workouts.

3. Details Matter

Details do make a difference! In the notes area of your diary page, be sure to record how you’re feeling at the start of your workout. Are you tired or are you ready to tear things up in the weight room? Do your muscles pump up quickly as your workout progresses or is the pump avoiding you today?

If you workout to music it may be helpful to record the tracks you listened to. This can also have a subliminal effect if you associate a great workout with certain music.

4. Don’t forget about nutrition

The other half of the fitness equation is diet. It’s vital that you record everything that you eat and drink throughout the day. Record the item, amount in grams, and time consumed. You can look up the calories at the end of the day and record the total.

5. Record vital measurements

Once a week you should weigh yourself and enter this into your training diary. Putting a tape measure to your neck, upper arms, chest, waist, thighs, and calves is a great way to track your weight training progress.

6. Review your log before each workout

Before you begin your workout, take a look back to the last time you trained the same body parts. Take assessment of the maximum weight and reps you did for each exercise. This is the time to mentally challenge yourself to get an extra 2 reps or increase the weight by 5 lbs.

7. Interpreting the data

Once you’ve logged several weeks of training data look back over it to see what kind of progress you’ve made. Pick one or two major exercises such as the bench press or squats. Have you been able to increase the weights for these lifts on a steady basis or have you hit a sticking point?

This is a good time to look for any correlations. Did your body weight begin to drop off around the time you hit the sticking point? If so, then maybe you’ve begun to over train. Also look back over your nutrition log and make sure you’re staying on track with your diet.

Maintaining an exercise diary is a little extra work, but it’s a commitment to your training program that will pay big dividends by keeping you on the road to training success!

The application of time management skills has tended, in the past, to be thought of as something that is for business life only. In reality, though, time management is something from which we can all benefit in our personal lives as well, and in the art of marrying our working lives with our home and social lives.

Those benefits show in a number of ways, including health, well being and satisfaction with our lives overall. Manage your time well, and you can feel in control of your life, rather than letting events control you. There is no single “method” of time management, either in business or personal life. However, there are various time management tips and techniques, practices and theories, which it is worth knowing about.

Acquiring time management skills is something we can set about doing in a methodical way. Really, we all practice time management whether we know it or not. It is more a matter of whether we do it well or badly. The following tips are for improving time management skills, building on those that you will naturally have. Even primitive man used time management, it was just a lot simpler in those days. Time had to be allocated for hunting, and that time had to be used to the fullest effect possible to survive.

Here are just a few time management tips:

1. Before learning any techniques to help you manage your time, have a clear idea of what you are setting out to achieve. Give yourself the opportunity to get your life in some sort of order so that you can both enjoy it to the full and succeed to the full. If you just apply time management to areas of your life that do not really matter to you, then you will not be progressing at a personal level.

2. Get your priorities clear in your mind, so that they are a natural part of you. This will need to become a habit to be very effective, and you will need to apply prioritizing over a number of time spans. Your long term success will probably depend on your being able to prioritize what you need to do to achieve that success. However, to use your time well on a particular day, you need to start the day with a clear idea of your priorities. that also applies to the week, the month and the year. Your priorities for the shorter period must always feed positively into the priorities in the next longer period, and so on, so that each time period is mapped out with priorities that lead to your ultimate success.

3. When assessing priorities, be ruthless with parts of your life that are not contributing to your longer term goals. Removing the areas of your life where you are wasting time, will free up more time for you to apply to reaching your goals.

4. Always be sure to build your health and enjoyment into any plans. Time for relaxation and exercise are critical to your long term achievements; always make time for proper meals, and keep to a healthy but enjoyable diet. Time management is not an exercise in being macho with your business life; it is an opportunity to build a balanced life for yourself and your family.

5. Once you have set your priorities for any period, write them down and refer to them from time to time, updating them if necessary. Should you appear to be failing, examine why, and reset and reinforce your goals and priorities. It is too easy to slip back into bad habits that inhibit your progress.

6. Be sure to keep a diary and use it to plan out each day, week, month. There are all sorts of electronic gizmos, online planners, software etc to act as aids to your time management. Personally, I think a good old fashioned diary is just as good, if not better. About 18 months ago I reverted to using a traditional diary to plan my working time. That forces me to get away from the computer, even for a few minutes, and think what my priorities are, and what I need to be reminded about.

If you can become better at time management, you will find your life more satisfying and less stressful, as well as being able to achieve greater things. For millions of people, life just sweeps them along in a torrent of activity, or inactivity, over which they have little or no control. That can be very stressful, unhealthy, inefficient, and demoralising over the long term. There is nothing quite like controlling your own destiny to reduce stress and aid success.
